Wildlife Sightings
MV. Isle of Mull
Time: All Day
HWDT volunteers will be aboard M.V. Isle of Mull carrying out wildlife sightings. Keep your eyes peeled for these enthusiastic folk who will be more than happy to answer any questions you have, and might even be persuaded to give you a loan of their binoculars!

Sea Life Surveys Open Day

Ledaig, Tobermary
Time: 11am - 4pm
Locals and visitors alike are invited to pop down to Tobermory Harbour where the Sea Life Surveys fleet of three boats, and its cheerful crew, will be moored. Short tours of the boats will enable visitors to learn about the specialised equipment used to help search for and identify the whales, dolphins and porpoises.
Tour the latest addition to the fleet, MS Wild Free, a beautifully built traditional Scottish motor sailing vessel. Learn about her history, and see the skilled conversion work that now enables her to conduct live-aboard package holidays.
With free refreshments, high-speed boat rides, free day-trip passes, discount vouchers for weekends and longer trips, as well as a host of other give-aways there are lots of reasons to drop by.
For those looking for some added excitement , Edge of the World, will be on hand to offer free exhilarating boat trips across the bay in their high-speed inflatable rib.

Raptor biologist Sue Dewar of Wings Over Mull Birds of Prey Conservation Centre and Sanctuary tells the success story of Mull's barn owls in comparison with a 70% decline in the UK population over the last 80 years.

Walk to Shiaba
Meet at Kilvickeon Carpark
Time: 10.30am till about 1.30pm
Ionad Eachdraidh Rois Mhuile (Ross of Mull Historical Society) will lead a walk to Shiaba.
The walk lasts approximately 4 hours and requires stout footwear, waterproof clothing etc.
Shiaba is a deserted township on a beautiful coastal site. There are spectacular views of Jura, Islay and Colonsay.

Trip to the Top
Meet at Forestry Commission Car Park, Ardmore
Time: 2.00 till about 4.30pm
Come and join a ranger led walk around the northern most tip of Mull.
The circular walk takes you through the forests of Ardmore and along the rugged coastline.
The walk offers the chance to view a fine mosaic of wildlife, including eagles, seals and coastal and woodland birds.
There are also opportunities to learn about the flowers of the area and archaeology.
Please wear sturdy footwear, bring binoculars and waterproof clothing just in case.

An Island Apart
Meet at: Ulva Ferry
Time: 10.00 till 1.00pm
The walk starts with a short boat trip to the Isle of Ulva. From there Jan, the Ranger will lead a walk around a small area of this tranquil island, giving you a taster for future visits.
During this exploration there will be opportunities to learn about the island's past and to be given a window of island life now.
The excursion will offer chances to admire the wonderful scenery and to learn about the resident wildlife.
The walk will end at the Boathouse where you may wish to taste the islands hospitality by savouring a much-rewarded strupag (cup of tea and a snack).
Please wear sturdy footwear, bring binoculars and waterproof clothing just in case.

A Walk on the Edge (of the Sound of Mull).
Meet at Forestry Commission Car Park, Fishnish
Time 2.00 till about 4.00pm
Join the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust, Ronnie Campbell (retired Forestry Commission Ranger) and Jan Dunlop of the Ranger Service for a guided walk along the coast from Fishnish to Garmony.
The walk offers fine opportunities to learn about and to spot (if we are lucky) much of Mull's wonderful wildlife including otters porpoises, seals, woodland and coastal bird species and even eagles.
Please wear sturdy footwear, bring binoculars and waterproof clothing just in case.

Gordon Buchanan - Wildlife Film Maker

A fascinating insight into the life of one of the country's top Wildlife Film Makers. Gordon was brought up on Mull and has returned to the island after over a decade filming exotic wildlife the world over. His latest project is a Mull wildlife film. Sea Eagle Hide

Visits at 10am and 1pm every day
Guided visits to a temporary hide with views to the nesting area and CCTV views to a Sea Eagle nest. Bookings are made on a "first come - first served" basis for up to 20 people per session.
