The 8th Taste of Mull &
Iona Food Festival will run from
Thursday 4th to Tuesday 9th September 2008
We are more aware than ever before that 'we
are what we eat' and want to know where our food comes from. On Mull & Iona,
food is from producer to consumer. We support our local producers for
quality, provenance and reduced food miles. Our visitors enjoy these
benefits, keeping our islands thriving. Our specially arranged Festival
activities combine our wonderful food with our unique wildlife and heritage,
giving you the opportunity to experience all that Mull & Iona have to offer.
The aim of Mull and Iona Food Festival is to work with local producers to
promote local products on our islands for all to enjoy.
This year we have changed the dates to span Thursday to Tuesday and have
brought the Festival forward to the beginning of September to take advantage
of the better weather at this time of year.
With such a wealth of fresh
highland produce on our doorstep it's easy to see why the Taste of Mull and
Iona Food Festival is such a successful event and now a well established
date on the islands calendar.

Festival Menu of Activities &
Events 2007
Thursday 6th - Tuesday 11th September
Organised by Mull and Iona
Community Trust 'Our Annual Food Festival is a community run event and could
not take place without the support, enthusiasm, imagination & generosity of
the communities of Mull & Iona. This year the Festival co-ordination &
fundraising has been done in partnership with Wild Isles 07, our new events
marketing initiative. Unlike many food festivals, we do not have a major
sponsor, instead we rely on local businesses who donate money & services to
make it all possible '
thank you - Susie Chalupa, Festival Organiser, Mull & Iona Community Trust.
All events details are correct at the time of publishing but may be subject
to change, especially outdoor events that are weather dependent.
The event began in 2001 as a
one day community project with no budget for activities and events. The
project was driven by local communities, who wished to market their produce
locally. A festival steering group was formed to co-ordinate the event,
supported by local community charity Mull & Iona Community Trust and a
marketing consultant. The Festival has developed into a longer celebration
which is supported by local businesses on Mull & Iona and on the surrounding
mainland of Oban, Fort William and Lochgilphead. |
