"Wildlife and Wild Landscapes of Scotland" Exhibition

Glengorm Castle Gallery, Nr Tobermory

an exhibition of paintings, by Aberdeen based Derek Robertson, one of the Scotland’s foremost wildlife and landscape artists.

Time: Daily 10am-5pm.

Evening/Sunset Cruise
Sealife Surveys, Ledaig, Tobermory (Weather Permitting)

Cruise through the sheltered waters of the Sound of Mull looking for seals and porpoise, then, watch the sunset over the Western Isles. Enjoy a complimentary dram of Tobermory Malt and a piece of Tobermory shortbread

Trip to the Top   (this event has been moved from Wed 14th)
Ranger Service   Max Number: 20
Come and join a ranger led walk around the northern most tip of Mull.
The circular walk takes you through the forests of Ardmore and along the rugged coastline.
The walk offers the chance to view a fine mosaic of wildlife, including eagles, seals and coastal and woodland birds.
There are also opportunities to learn about the flowers of the area and archaeology.
Sturdy footwear, binoculars and waterproof clothing recommended.
Time: Meet at Ardmore Main Car Park, near Tobermory at 2pm (duration 2 ½ hours)

Wild Food Walk

Meet at the old cemetery 2 miles Craignure side of Bunessan for a Guided walk, with Wildlife Guide David Greenhalgh, looking at Mull's wild food. Then, enjoy a wild food lunch at Reef Restaurant.(There is an extra charge for this) Some rough walking along the shore line, possible shallow wading , so wellies recommended.

An Island Apart - Ulva
Ranger Service   Max Number: 20
The walk starts with a short boat trip to the Isle of Ulva. From there Jan, the Countryside Ranger will lead a walk around a small area of this tranquil island, giving you a taster for future visits.
During this exploration there will be opportunities to learn about the islands past and to be given a window of island life now.

The excursion will offer chances to admire the wonderful scenery and to learn about the resident wildlife.
The walk will end at the Boathouse where you may wish to taste the islands hospitality by savouring a much-rewarded strupak (cup of tea and a snack).sturdy footwear, binoculars and waterproof recommended.

Time: meet at Ulva Ferry at 10am (duration 3 hours)
Cost: Ferry fare, lunch-per menu. Guided walk - suggested donation £3 to the Ranger Service.

Corncrake Walks on Iona
Discover Mull & RSPB Scotland   Max Number: 12
Pam Brown of Discover Mull will accompany you on an easy walk, listening and looking for these elusive birds. Walking shoes, waterproofs and binoculars recommended.  David Sexton, RSPB, will be joining the morning walk and Abby Patterson, NTS, will be joining the afternoon walk.

Waterstone will be at Wings Over Mull for one day only selling a selection of wildlife and local interest books to suit all ages offering a 10% discount.
Visit the centre and see a large selection of birds of prey and learn about their wild status on Mull. Has the only dedicated bird of prey hospital on the West Coast of Scotland

A Walk on the Edge (of the Sound of Mull)
Ranger Service   Max Number: 20
Join the RSPB Scotland and Jan Dunlop of the Ranger Service for a guided walk along the coast from Fishnish to Garmony.
The walk offers fine opportunities to learn about and to spot (if we are lucky) much of Mull's wonderful wildlife including otters porpoises, seals, woodland and coastal bird species and even eagles.
Please wear sturdy footwear, bring binoculars and waterproof clothing just in case.
Time: meet at Fishnish Car Park & Picnic Site, nr the Fishnish Ferry at 2pm (duration 2 hours)

Seafood Supper with the Puffins

Cruise through the Treshnish Isles for some seal-spotting before landing on Lunga for a barbecue supper with the puffins. Commences 6pm from Ulva Ferry.

Whales & Dolphins of the Hebrides
HWDT   Max Number: 30
A talk by the Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust (HWDT), discussing the occurrence, distribution biology and feeding ecology of different cetacean species in the Hebrides. Includes tips on where to spot whales and dolphins locally and how to identify different species. Followed by a short 30 minute film about the work HWDT is involved in.

Mull Bird Club in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology & RSPB Scotland
Bird Count/Race starting from one of the following 4 locations: Fionnphort, Craignure, Dervaig or Tobermory

Competition organised to record the number of bird species seen on Mull during the day. All records go to Roving Records for 2007-2011, BTO Bird Atlas. Winning vehicle recording the most species will receive a prize. Counting starts as 10am and finishes at 3.45pm. Papers will be recorded at 5pm at the Isle of Mull Hotel, Craignure (tea and scones available).
