Mull & Iona Wildlife Week is happening again in 2010.

Watch this space for dates and details of events which will be published in the coming months.

Here's some examples of the things that were happening during last year's wildlife week . . . . . .

Ruth Fleming took a happy band from Glengorm coffee shop, past the standing stones to Dun'Ara fort from where they had magnificent views of the setting sun.

Award winning photographer, Philip Price gave a brilliant talk with beautiful pictures of animal behaviour.

Sam Jones - one of our resident photographers - led a very successful landscape photography walk.

Nic Davies led his group along the coast from Craignure to find a mother and cubs within sight of the ferry!

..and there was an impressive exhibition of wildlife photographs, painting and ceramics at the renowned Calgary Farmhouse hotel.

Finlay Christine, 'Wildlife Crime police officer of the year', held us in stitches until we cried.  Well some tears were for the wildlife being poisoned and trapped.

Seamus Westland kept a small but select audience spellbound, about the geology of the island, followed by a fun filled field trip the next day.

The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust did their stuff on the ferry by pointing out porpoises and many seabirds.

On Iona, two walks guided by Pam Brown of Discover Mull heard, and saw, the elusive corncrake.

Local man, and birdsong expert, Stuart Gibson, led three brilliant walks from and to Salen.

Dave Sexton, Mull's RSPB officer gave an excellent film show which was a sell out, with standing room only in the end.

and there was much much more besides.

The next Mull & Iona Wildlife Week will take place from the 8th to the 14th of May 2010. Until then, the wildlife is still here, so make sure you have booked your accommodation through our local Visit Scotland office (01 680 812 377), or use our island websites
